About

Mary Jo Wiseman

CMP Emeritus demonstrates years of experience as an expert in best practices of event management.  CMP Emeritus are retired event professionals.  They uphold a code of ethics and maintain exemplary standards of professional conduct.

As a corporate meeting and event planner, Mary Jo Wiseman, CMP (known to many as MJ), managed the full spectrum of the event planning process, across all levels of management with an emphasis on high profile, executive-level groups including senior management, Board of Directors and key customers.  The author’s systematic approach to project management helped her to get and stay focused on the task at hand while handling multiple details, projects and deadlines throughout her career.

She was an active member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) throughout her career serving both on the Education Committee and the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Chapter.   She obtained her CMP designation in 1992, and considers herself a lifelong learner.

She enjoys best being part of a team, teaching and coaching others by example and would welcome the opportunity to participate in a one-on-one mentorship capacity, in a small group setting during the planning phase or on-site during a meeting.   She’s only an email (mwiseman4446@gmail.com), text (612.963.5188) or phone call (651.756.8106) away.

Since leaving the corporate world MJ has stayed current in the industry through networking, conducting site inspections (and writing about her findings), reading, attending in-person or video streaming hospitality-related workshops and prior to the pandemic, trip directing. For five years she provided volunteer assistance to WomenVenture, a nonprofit organization that provides micro-financing for women starting or expanding a business with their prospect research, something that brought her full circle to a similar prospect research position she had at Metropolitan State University prior to starting on her meeting planning career.

Mary Jo lives in White Bear Lake, MN with her husband  and spends as much time together as they can road tripping and exploring the great US.
