My site inspection/review of Lora, a sweet boutique hotel that just recently celebrated its first anniversary.

Owned by Elevage Development Group and one of 14 upscale, boutique hotels managed by Provenance Hotels, based in Portland.
The hotel was listed on the Architectural Digest’ list of 15 best designed hotels in 2018.
Located on the south end of Main Street in what once housed the area’s oldest brewery in the historical Joseph Wolf Brewing Company Building; the brewery was part of a cave-like system that still runs through Stillwater today. The stone walls of the caves, a carriage passageway and much of the exposed brick and limestone walls were retained and incorporated into the design elements of the new hotel.
Lora, a four-story upscale, contemporary designed venue pays homage to early German-Scandinavian settlers of the area. The name “Lora” is short for “Lorelei,” a mystical river nymph.
40 guest room including five suites, located on the 3rrd and 4th floors are decorated in a color palette of soft blue and gray. The rooms offer “whimsical nods to fables and folklore including coat hooks in the shape of hares, jackalopes and other animals.” A few of the room doors are painted red ‘like the eyes of loons”, the state bird of Minnesota. Room feature down comforters, Mascioni linens, eco-friendly bath products, complimentary wi-fi, and an honor bar stocked with locally made products.
Feller Restaurant and Bar with seating for 100 and semi-private dining for up to 40 seated in the Caves Dining Room, is located a couple steps up from the main dining room. The semi-private space works well for both meeting and social events. An area behind the bar, the Moon Lounge, seats 14 comfortably. Outside lounge seating and fire pit provides fun people watching.
Valet parking only. $30 plus tax per night.
In lieu of a spa or fitness center, guests at Lora receive a tote bag with a yoga mat and iPad with pre-loaded workout videos as part of the hotel’s Well+Fit Program. Guests can also take advantage of “The “Steps,” the infamous and newly renovated Stillwater100+ Stairs that abuts the hotel for an additional cardio workout. In addition, there are four bikes for complimentary use during your stay.
The Lora is pet friendly.
